How red berries used in perfumery

To make a perfume cheerful sometimes fruit notes are enough and among their facets, the fruity one, are the most bright and colourful.

Trendy for over ten years, these pulpy scents are chosen to give playfulness and lightness to a fragrance.

However, they are not to be confused with the smells coming from vitaminic citrus. Bright spotlights that sit among the top notes and seem ready to say: welcome, get comfortable and enjoy.

Between natural isolates, blends, reproductions and long-chain fruity aldehydes, among the most famous being C14 and peach scents, we can have fresh fruits all year round within our formulas.

These types of raw materials are generally placed among the heart notes.

Red fruits, full-bodied and rich in juice, give the perception of velvety and graceful sensations, they also go very well with fragrances with floral facets. They help to fade woody accords, sometimes difficult to put together, enhance bases with tobacco notes and round out the spices.

From Burgundy, France, comes an absolute of black currant, it is obtained from the buds of the plant. Harvesting takes place for a few months, from the end of the year, in the middle of winter, until the first days of February.

The olfactory profile, a cocktail of mixed fruits with spicy undertones and sugary traces, is very useful to rejuvenate formulas with a too classic construction.

Very diffusible and bright is the all-natural blend currant, it’s as sweet as a jar of jam, reminiscent not only of blackcurrants but also of other berries. If you also sense nuances of violet, you are not imagining them.

Even from the leaves of some red fruits it’s possible to extract excellent raw material and from raspberry leaves, for example, it’s possible to obtain a precious absolute.

You should know that there are few natural fruity raw materials. In spite of new technologies, and increasingly precise extractions, it is not obvious that it is possible to extract the olfactory principle of fruits, because of the substantial presence of water.

In the category of red fruits (no matter their color) are traditionally included all berries, including: blueberries, blackberries, black currants, strawberries, black cherries, cherries. Sometimes the definition is extended to some red berries, such as goji berries.
